Where the Light Falls — Original Acrylic Painting

There's something about the country lanes of Wiltshire. The way they wind between trees, the sunlight catching the fields beyond and those wonderful glimpses of countryside around every bend.

Where the Light Falls is an original acrylic painting inspired by the familiar lanes and landscapes found all across Wiltshire.

Strong shadows, distant hills and patches of golden sunlight capture that lovely contrast between the shelter of the trees and the open countryside beyond.

Although I'm best known for my reduction linocut prints, I've approached this painting with the same love of colour, light and bold, simplified shapes that runs through my printmaking.

It's not a painting of one particular lane. It's a little reminder of all those familiar roads we travel, sometimes without stopping to appreciate just how beautiful they are.
